The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), the apex body of the Indian auto component industry successfully hosted the seventh edition of the ACMA Atmanirbhar Excellence Awards & Technology Summit.
This year’s theme ‘Driving Mobility through Technology, Digitization & Sustainability’ was aimed at ACMA’s endeavor to facilitate the transition of the auto component industry from a conventional one to mobility industry. The summit recognised and felicitated ACMA members for excellence across parameters such as Exports, Product innovation, manufacturing, HR, and environmental safety.
The summit was graced by dignitaries from the Government and Industry including Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Government of India, Dr.Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister for Heavy Industries Government of India, Dr. Pawan K. Goenka, SCALE Chairman Designate – In space, Dept. of Space, GOI, and Kenichi Ayukawa, President, SIAM and MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, among others.
DR. PAWAN K. GOENKA HONOURED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: At the event Dr. Pawan K. Goenka was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Goenka Chairman, Steering Committee for Advancing Local Value-Add & Exports (SCALE), Chairman Designate - In Space, Dept of Space, Government of India was given the prestigious award for his unparalleled contribution to the automotive industry.
Sharing his opinion, Dr.Mahendra Nath Pandey said, “The Government of India is keen to support the automotive industry, the FAME 2 and PLI scheme are some of the necessary steps in this direction. The Government is keen to incentivize investments in advanced technologies to create a robust eco-system to address the future mobility goals of India and welcomes the joint ACMA-SIAM roadmap on localisation to reduce dependence on imports.”
Sunjay Kapur, President, ACMA said, “Indian automotive component industry is at the cusp of change. Companies have already started adopting new age technologies such as telematics, ADAS and automation fast transforming the industry. Whilst the industry has faced several headwinds, the support of our government with policies like PLI schemes, FAME has enabled us to stay strong and remain globally competitive.”
