Auto industry stalwarts Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company and Anand Gopal Mahindra of Mahindra & Mahindra, were presented the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Padma Bhushan is the country’s third-highest civilian award and the two auto industry veterans were honoured for their contribution in the field of trade and industry. Venu Srinivasan is known to be passionate about his commitment to society through a unique model of village development in South India, said a TVS press release.
Venu Srinivasan is the Chairman of the TVS Group which includes Sundaram-Clayton and TVS Motor Company, a reputed two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer globally. Srinivasan was earlier conferred the coveted Padma Shri Award by the President of India in 2010. Srinivasan, is the Managing Trustee of Srinivasan Services Trust which he setup in 1996. The Trust operates in over 5000 villages and some of its thrust areas include empowerment of women and afforestation.
The Government of India awarded the two industrialists at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. “This is a recognition of our Rise philosophy—doing well and doing good at the same time. Most importantly, he has upheld the spirit of the Mahindra Group, which has always believed firmly in giving back to the community and ensuring inclusive growth,” a M&M release said.
