Maxxis India, a sub-company of Maxxis Group, has rolled out its first two-wheeler tyres consignment from the recently set-up Sanand, Gujarat facility to Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI). The company has been supplying OEM tyres fitment to HMSI through its Vietnam facility since 2016.
The first completely locally produced tyre from the facility is the 90/100-10 M6000 for Honda Activa 5G, Activa i and Dio scooters. This tyre is designed to provide extra strength and safety to the vehicles. The Sanand plant is equipped with technologies of the future that enable world class quality products. The plant has been operational since August 2017 and caters to two wheeler tyre and tube production. The company plans to set up 4 more plants in India which will cater to four wheeler tyre production as well. Maxxis is aiming to supply 1 million tyres to its OEM partners and capture 15% of the Indian two-wheeler tyre market by 2023.
Commenting on the event, Liu, Plant Head, Maxxis India, said, “This is a landmark moment for us at Maxxis India as we mark the first ‘Made in India’ consignment delivery to our long-standing partners Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. Maxxis has set high standards in providing benchmarked product quality and customer service, globally and India will be no exception. While this is our first locally manufactured consignment to HMSI, Maxxis has been the preferred original equipment tyre supplier to Honda Activa since 2015.”
