Globally operating logistics provider, Kuehne + Nagel has opened an automotive solution centre in Pune, India, to meet the growing demand for specialised logistics solutions for the automotive industry in India. The facility relates to Kuehne + Nagel’s similar set-ups in Bremen and Shanghai, and represents a further step in the company’s commitment to offering specialised solutions for manufacturers and suppliers. Kuehne + Nagel is offering a highly customised portfolio of services, ranging from vendor managed inventory (VMI), just-in time (JIT) and just-in-sequence (JIS) deliveries over milk runs and cross docking through to solution designing, emergency handling, network engineering and continuous improvement initiatives. "Pune has become the hub for automotive logistics in India since a lot of headquarters and manufacturing facilities of automotive companies are located here," the company said in a statement. "Backed by a global competence network, the new development is fully in line with our goal to be one of the leading logistics specialists, providing operational excellence and setting new standards for the automotive industry in India," said Volkmar Mueller, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Pvt. Ltd. In India, Kuehne + Nagel operates at 38 locations and employs around 1,200 people.
