Bridgestone India, the domestic arm of the global tyre major, Bridgestone corporation is contemplating on revamping its capacity at its manufacturing plant in Pune. The company is planning to achieve a production of 10,000 passenger car radial tyres and 1,000 units of truck and bus radial tyres by the end of 2015. The company decided to go in for capacity increase owing to huge demand of its radial tyres in the aftermarket, thus necessitating the need to go in for a capacity expansion.
Tomio Fukuzumi, while inaugurating the Bridgestone outlet in Ernakulam, Kerala said: "Bridgestone is a leading firm in the aftermarket radial tyres of passenger cars in India. Though, the market slowdown in the automotive industry has had a cascading effect on the sales in OEM segment, nevertheless, we are doing pretty well in the replacement market".
Currently, the tyre maker is supplying products made from its plant located in Indore, which is capable of making 15,000 car radial tyres a day, besides 400 units of truck and bus radial tyres.
