VANCOUVER BC (CANADA) : car2go N.A., LLC is assessing their in-vehicle technology in Vancouver, BC. car2go is a new and innovative mobility program that started operations in North America in November 2009. After successfully launching the program in Austin, Texas, car2go is planning to roll out further cities in Canada and the United States in the near future but has not yet announced the next car2go city. Currently, through October 2010, car2go is assessing their in-vehicle technology with selected non-profits and businesses in Vancouver, including Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver Film School, Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, and a set of UBC staff and graduate students, to name a few of the selected participants. The trial assessment is being conducted to validate and refine business processes and technical systems before further large-scale rollouts in Canada and the United States. car2go expects to announce the next location in Q1 2011. “We elected to perform our trial assessment in Vancouver because of its proximity to one of our technology providers, allowing us to monitor and analyze the data first hand,” said Nicholas Cole, President and CEO of car2go, N.A., LLC. “With this trial assessment, car2go will better understand how our systems work in different countries, providing data sets to help us ultimately enhance the car2go experience for our members.”
