At the beginning of June, the Chrysler Group and the Ford Motor Company honored their best suppliers. At this event, ZF Friedrichshafen AG won two prizes for its automatic passenger car transmissions. The awards confirm ZF's product policy and are the result of a close collaboration with the manufacturers. At the Chrysler Annual Supplier Meeting in Detroit, the automotive company especially praised the platform concept of the 8HP, which enables the application of the automatic transmission among the entire product range and all brands of the Chrysler Group. “ZF has proven to be a great, collaborative supplier to Chrysler,” said Doug Doran, Head of Product Development Purchasing for Chrysler Group. “Their partnership on our exciting new transmissions has brought tremendous innovation to the table and ultimately will result in much better vehicles for our customers. Their employees should be proud of their accomplishment.” "The award is a great honor for ZF," said Dr. Gerhard Wagner, Member of the Board of Management of ZF Friedrichshafen AG and responsible for the Powertrain Technology Division. "It is not only proof of the excellent design of the 8-speed automatic transmission, it is at the same time the result of the consistently intensified cooperation of our companies." The winners of the awards were determined with the help of a comprehensive evaluation system including criteria such as quality, delivery times, warranty processing, as well as the general assessment of the Chrysler Group Management. The 8 HP is currently in volume production application in the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger - as of fall, it will also be installed in the new model generation of the Ram 1500. With the annual "World Excellence Awards" at the headquarters in Dearborn near Detroit, Ford also appreciated outstanding performances in key areas such as on-time delivery, quality, innovation, sustainability, cost structures, social responsibility, and customer satisfaction. ZF's Powertrain Technology Division received the Gold Award for its well-established 6-speed automatic transmission, which Ford uses for the Australian models Falcon and Territory. Overall, twelve Gold and 24 Silver Awards were granted. Ford is an important customer for ZF worldwide: Besides transmissions, the supplier company also produces complete axle systems, as well as driveline components, for example, clutch systems or torsion dampers for several Ford models.
