Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) has inaugurated the Engine Dynamometer Laboratory at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (NITK). It is the first Engine Dynamometer Laboratory setup in NITK in collaboration with RBEI. The lab will allow student engineers to study and experiment with the latest technology in Powertrain Control and Electronics, thus enabling them to have the confidence and ability to address real-life issues in this subject
RK Shenoy, Senior Vice President, Robert Bosch Business and Engineering Solutions commented, “We are setting up this state-of-art powertrain lab at NITK to support students to experiment and innovate in current and futuristic technologies in Powertrain electronics. This will give a huge boost for budding engineers to learn high end Common Rail Powertrain technology. The students will be supported by Bosch experts as mentors and guides. “
Director of NITK, Surathkal Prof. Swapan Bhattacharya spoke on the occasion and said that as far as NITK is concerned, Industry Institute Interaction (III) plays a vital role in producing the best technical human resource that can readily fit into the industry environment. He added, “Industries should join hands with technical institutes to inculcate the practical aspects of technologies, research and manufacturing among the student community.”
This move is part of a larger programme designed to develop a stronger and more productive relationship between Bosch and academia that will in turn benefit society. As part of it, Bosch is working with Universities to develop a future-relevant curriculum that is intended to develop skillsets across multiple areas including core subjects such as Engineering and Science.
