The trailer which would be manufactured in the plant would not only be used for scaling up the company’s fleet but would also be exported in various countries in Asia Pacific Region. Currently Mercurio Pallia is working with almost all the major automobile manufacturers in India. Vipul Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of Mercurio Pallia said “Trends have changed over the years and now it’s more of a volume-game where the focus is on doing as much work as possible. The new facility would help us deliver a very new generation of trailers which can help our customers to save upon the cost of delivery and maintenance.” Interestingly, Gruppo Mercurio has been acquired by Gefco Logisitcs a 100pc subsidiary of PSA Group. This trio opened the gates for Gefco who wanted to come to India. Moreover, PSA is setting up their plant in Gujarat and MercurioPallia is already working with them for entire car transportation management business for India. The company also plans to manufacture special wagons for railways in India which can carry automotives (especially cars) all across India. Nanda feels that this would surely help a timely delivery of cars across all the locations with minimal damages. “Once GST becomes applicable, we would also look at the possibility of using Railways for transportation. In fact we have already signed a MoU with FreightStar. The involvement of Geffco now would also boost these prospects as they are use of handling such operations,” added Nanda.
