Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium vehicles, has received the 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. The award was conferred by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands, Paul Chandrasekharan Sabapathy CBE.The award reflects Jaguar Land Rover’s sustained sales success. It was accepted by Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar, Land Rover's CEO. Others present on the occasion included Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata, and Tata’s Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry, besides the company’s Executive Committee of Management and representatives of Jaguar Land Rover’s 30,000 employees.According to a press release, the Queen's Award was given in recognition of the company’s success internationally as well as the many positive ways the business contributes to society. The company had sold 274,280 vehicles in 2011 and by 2013 the sales had topped 425,006 units.Exports account for more than 80pc of all vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover produces. It has three manufacturing plants in the UK. The largest export regions for the company are mainland Europe, North America and China. These three account for 60pc of all export sales. Over the last three years, Jaguar, Land Rover created 11,000 new jobs and is likely to create an additional 24,000 positions in the supply chain.Source: JLR.
