Ashwani Gupta, Global Program Director, Datsun has been assigned a new role as head of Light Commercial Vehicles division of Renault in France. Gupta was appointed Program Director of Datsun Business Unit in 2011. “I will be located in Paris from April 1, 2014 and will report directly to Carlos Ghosn, “ said Gupta in a telephonic interview with Motown India from Paris in France. Carlos Ghosn is the CEO of Renault-Nissan.
Gupta started his career in Gallium Equipments Pvt Ltd., India in 1992. In 1994 he joined Climate Systems India Ltd. and in 1996 he worked with the Japanese car major Honda Cars India (then called Honda Siel). In 2006 he became the Deputy General Manager, Purchasing , of Renault India based in Mumbai . In 2008, he was made the Account Manager, Global Supplier, Renault Nissan Purchasing Organization (France). A year later he became the Deputy General Manager, Global Purchasing, Renault Nissan BV (France). In 2011, he joined Datsun as Global Program Director.
As Global Program Director he was responsible for the over-all product life-cycle from the development and manufacturing up to the launch, promotion and sales ensuring strong market presence and profitability. He developed worldwide business links working as an expatriate in France and Japan.
