One year after opening an R&D center in Santa Fe, Mexico, Faurecia has just cut the ribbon on a new laboratory specialising in the design and development of seat covers and foams. The 20 engineers and technicians assigned to the facility will work to develop these components, which are essential to the ambience, comfort and safety of the passenger compartment, said a company statement.
The new laboratory will enable Faurecia Automotive Seating to better anticipate the expectations of its customers with plants in Mexico (Volkswagen, Nissan and Chrysler, among others) and more quickly meet their needs. At the end of 2013, Faurecia had 10 plants and 9,000 employees in Mexico.
By 2020, Mexico is projected to be producing almost 4.5 million vehicles a year for the local, North American and South American markets.
