German stalwart BMW has rolled out its first ever 6 Series Gran Turismo from its plant in Chennai. The 6 Series Gran Turismo was launched earlier this month at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company launched the car as a locally produced petrol variant, the BMW 630i Gran Turismo Sport Line.

The BMW Group Plant in Chennai also produces the BMW 3 Series, 3 series GT, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5. Local production of the Mini Countryman will begin in this year as well. The company has designated a 'Production follows the market' approach and BMW Group India has systematically accelerated the localisation program here in India. The plant at present has been able to achieve upto 50pc localisation.
BMW plans on launching a diesel powered variant of the 6 Series Gran Turismo in India later in 2018.
