German stalwart BMW has rolled out its first ever 6
Series Gran Turismo from its plant in Chennai. The 6 Series Gran Turismo was
launched earlier this month at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company launched the car
as a locally produced petrol variant, the BMW 630i Gran Turismo Sport Line.
Dr. Jochen Stallkamp, Managing Director, BMW Group
Plant Chennai, said, “BMW Group Plant Chennai is proud to roll-out the
first-ever BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo in India. The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is
not only a unique concept but also makes a significant mark through its
advanced engineering, technology and innovations. Now locally-produced in
India, it will create a novel segment and set new benchmarks in the Indian luxury
car segment. As always, BMW Group Plant Chennai is committed to deliver the
best-in-class products for discerning customers who value the highest level of
quality in every detail.”
The BMW Group Plant in Chennai also produces the
BMW 3 Series, 3 series GT, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5. Local
production of the Mini Countryman will begin in this year as well. The company
has designated a 'Production follows the market' approach and BMW Group India
has systematically accelerated the localisation program here in India. The

BMW plans on launching a diesel powered variant of
