Dr. Abhay Firodia, Chairman, Force Motors Ltd. has been appointed President of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) by the apex body's executive committee on September 7, 2017. Dr. Firodia will succeed Vinod Dasari, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland.
Dr Firodia had previously been elected President of AIAM in the year 1990-91 & 1991-92. SIAM's Executive Committee also elected Rajan Wadhera, President - Automotive, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. as its Vice President. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has been appointed as Treasurer by SIAM's Executive Committee.
Dr. Abhay Firodia has been conferred an honorary degree of "Doctor of Science" by Rajiv Gandhi Technological University, Madhya Pradesh, has also received the 'Jain Ratna' award and 'Cross of the Order of Merit' from the Federal Republic of Germany for his services offered in drawing closer ties between India and Germany.
