Skoda Auto India has launched the facelift of Rapid for a starting price of Rs 8.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will be offered in 3 trims - Active, Ambition and Style.
The new Skoda Rapid offers two engine variants, a 1.6L MPI petrol and a 1.5L TDI diesel which also offers the 7 speed DSG gearbox. The petrol only gets the option for a 5-speed transmission. The 1.6L petrol produces about 103.5hp and 153Nm of peak torque while delivering a fuel economy figure of 15.41kmpl for the manual version and 14.84kmpl for the automatic version. The 1.5L diesel on the other hand can output 108.4hp and a peak torque of 250Nm and returns 21.72 kilometers to the litre for the 7-speed DSG and 21.13kmpl with the manual transmission.
The new Skoda Rapid gets Skoda's crystalline design with sharp edges. The front now has Quartz-cut halogen projector headlamps with LED DRLs that have an option for manually adjusting the level. The car comes with premium looking dual tone Ebony-sand interiors with perforated leatherette seats and plenty of chrome sprinkled around. There is a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment systems that can be linked to your smartphone via MirrorLink, USB, AUX or Bluetooth. Features like rain sensing wipers, rear AC vents, cruise control are present to enhance your experience of the Rapid. Consumers will get plenty of storage spaces inside the cabin, including a glove box and a boot space of 460 litres.
The Rapid also boasts of a plethora of safety features like dual airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Hold Control. You also get rear parking sensor, one touch anti pinch windows and automatically dimming rear view mirror.
