India's leading utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. introduced the Intelli-Hybrid technology on their Scorpio with the 1.99 litre mHAWK engine which is meant for Delhi and NCR. The Scorpio with the Intelli-Hybrid technology will be available for a starting price of Rs. 9.35 lakh for the S4 model.
The Intelli-Hybrid technology helps reduce fuel consumption by 7pc and also will be sold at concessional VAT (Value Added Tax) of 5pc for consumers in the Delhi region. Due to a ban which was previously imposed by the Supreme Court of India on vehicles with diesel engine capacities over 2000cc, Mahindra introduced their popular Scorpio model with a 1.99 litre mHAWK diesel engine.
Depending on the variant being purchased, consumers will save between INR 60,000 to 90,000 thanks to the concession on VAT. The Intelli-Hybrid technology assists the engine with electric power during acceleration, it also switches of the engine within 3 seconds when the vehicle is stationary. The system uses the energy released during braking to charge the batteries (Brake Force Regeneration). The Intelli-Hybrid technology will be available on the 1.99litre mHAWK engine S4, S4+, S4+ 4wd, S6+, S8, S10-2WD (Manual Transmission) and S10-4WD (Manual Transmission) variants of the Scorpio.
