Audi unveiled the new Q2 at the Geneva International Motor Show. The new Q2 is a compact SUV meant for everyday driving and recreation. The new Audi Q2 will be offered in 6 different engine configurations – a 1.0 litre/ 3 cylinder/ TFSI, 1.4 & 2.0 litre/ 4 cylinder/ gasoline, 1.6 & 2.0 litre/ 4 cylinder/ diesel (3 diesel variants for these configurations).
Marc Lichte, Head of Design, Audi, said “In the Audi Q2 we have developed a distinctively geometric form language with model-specific design characteristics. The car exhibits an independent character within the Q family”. The new Q2 features a single frame grille in an octagonal design at the front, low roof which seamlessly integrates into the C-pillars, long roof spoiler, a diffuser and high shoulder line. The compact SUV will measure 1.51m in height, 4.19m in length, 1.79m in width and a wheelbase of 2.60m.
The new Audi Q2 will also get an optional virtual cockpit and head-up display. The Audi Q2 lays emphasis on driver and pedestrian security and will get Audi pre sense as standard. Other systems include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, traffic jam assist, the lane-departure warning system, Audi side assist, the lane-keeping assistant Audi active lane assist, traffic sign recognition, parking and cross-traffic assist rear.
Audi will be offering the vehicle with a six-speed manual transmission and the S tronic, 7-speed, dual clutch transmission as well. The TDI and the 2.0 TFSI engines will also be offered with Audi’s quattro permanent AWD system as standard equipment. The company is also offering the Q2 with adaptive dampers which are available as optional fitment. The Audi Q2 will be launched in autumn 2016 in Europe.
